The Venango museum building is the former Federal Building and Post Office for Oil City, PA, constructed in 1905. It’s also individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While visiting this unique museum in the Oil Region National Heritage Area, explore the gift shop and support the local authors and artisans who sell their products there. Credit cards are welcome.
The permanent exhibit theme you can explore is “Black Gold or Black Magic?”. Guests may also ask that the restored Wurlitzer Theatre Organ from the Latonia Theatre in Oil City be played for you, too! Special seasonal exhibits that are currently on display are Decorated Christmas Trees (you can vote for your favorite) and special display cases of local private collections of Holiday items. Also situated inside the museum building is the Oil Region National Heritage Area Visitor Center, themed “Oil City – The Hub of Oildom.”
